College For Recording Arts, San Francisco, 1981-82. I was here.



















































After taking 2 years of Electronics Engineering Technology in Boston, I was left scratching my head about what to do next. I did a lot of home taping of albums & the radio back then, but my cassette decks were subject to head misalignment, costing $60 just for the shop to look at the machine, and weeks without it because of backlog. So I thought I might like to expand into professional recording and spent a few weeks following a $10/hr engineer to work at a 24/16 track studio. I loved it, I love electronics like that, it was a great studio. So I signed up to go out to San Francisco for the full load of courses, and I did learn most everything at the time, however, there were several musicians there & it made me realize I'm illiterate in music & I don't stand a chance of being on their level if I don't know music.

I was mixing live sound for a band's practice sessions and did a few sound gigs in SF after getting out of college. One classmate told me I could have his club mixing gig, but I'd have to wear jack-hammer ear protectors because it was too fucking loud; then I took his apartment space for several months and he went home. Eventually I had to go home, but I made a few invisible high-powered connections before I went, then I just watched in rapt anticipation for the TV & Movie & Radio content creators to just go nuclear on me. Guess what, they are still going nuclear on me. They've generated trillions of dollars of propaganda against me & I haven't seen a cent of it.
