Los Angeles, CASTAR IN YOUR VERY OWN REAL LIFE HORROR FILM!
I rented a one bedroom from RPM a year ago on Formosa when I was desperate to move out after a bad breakup. So maybe it was my fault for not inspecting the place before I signed a lease. I mean, sure the place is old and not in the best shape, but I thought it had character. And it did. Lots of characters. Including rats, roaches and.... get ready for it... MAGGOTS.
I realized this place had some special features about 2 months after I moved in when the hatch above my bathtub (entry to the above apts plumbing) started leaking brown water. After calling management 5,845 times, someone finally came out to fix it 3 days later. A month after that I had an issue with my bathtub not draining and puking up brown rusty sick water. The awesome part? Took them a week to fix it. Then it started getting even more awesome about 3 months later when I woke up to my bathroom completely flooded with the above neighbors sewage and whatever they put down their garbage disposal. I literally had a tub full of mashed potatoes, carrots and spaghetti. That's right! You get your neighbors pee and the dinner they had the night before all for free! 3 days to fix it. Just wait till you hear about the other fabulous amenities RPM has to offer...
Lets talk pets. Each apartment comes with its very own family of rats inside the walls. Ginormous rats. Let me also tell you about the great morning I had 2 weeks ago when I woke up to my bath tub full of.... *cue dramatic sting* ....MAGGOTS. It was raining maggots it the bathroom. They were crawling through the hatch above my tub I mentioned earlier. And these weren't just any maggots. They were maggots on steroids. For a quick second I thought one was Ronnie from Jersey Shore. They were at least the size of a Hot Tamale (the candy). So once again after calling 7,875 times, they came to "fix" it 2 days later. Too bad they didn't even fix it and I had a bath full of maggots later that same night. They never came back and a few days later flies started coming from the hatch. For those that didn't know, maggots turn into flies. You know what's hilarious? THATS NOT EVEN THE BEST PART!
After I gave management my 30 days along with a detailed complaint letter and heard neighbors had reported them, we received notice from RPM that they were being inspected by the health department in a few days. It said we needed to remove all personal items from our front steps and management would be sending people to do a big clean up around the apartments. The next morning I stepped outside and almost barfed from the worst stench I had ever encountered. I noticed these dudes cleaning out the little storage shed on the side of my apartment and carrying out huge trash bags of something heavy. They were making a pile of all the bags in the courtyard. My friend asked them what they were carrying out of there.... Know what?.... Be prepared because you are probably going to start dry heaving like I did/am right now. They drilled a hole in the wall of the storage shed to get under my apartment so they could remove 10 INCHES OF HUMAN FECES FROM WHERE ALL THE SEWAGE FROM EACH APARTMENT WAS GOING. UNDER MY APARTMENT. I was sailing on a sea of dookie the entire time I lived there. They actually drilled a hole in the wall, crawled in, cleaned the poop out and sealed the hole back up. I watched them straight up mix cement and seal it! So they will get away with it when the Health Department comes. Bummer. Don't let me forget about the petrified rats and a mumified cat they found in that storage shed. It was the foulest thing in history. Hopefully the maggots/ flies will be there for the Health Department to see.
Things I'm too lazy to write about but you should be aware of:
*Rats sunbathing in the grass
*I had a physical altercation with one of the huge flies that came from the hatch and attacked me and my cousin
Bottom line: If you see a FOR RENT and find out its RPM management, RUN. -
Review from Meagan K.
Los Angeles, CAThis is the absolute worst management company. I should have known from day one when we tried to sign our lease and the person dealing with us forgot to mention crucial information that delayed our lease signing. I also should have realized it when we were signing our lease the the employees were all talking about getting stoned together. Yet we continued because we really liked the apartment. But it only got worse.
I had mold, cockroaches and bug eggs growing in my apartment. I filled out the maintenance form, called the manager, left several voice-mails and emails with RPM and after two weeks heard nothing. I then called the emergency maintenance number and the guy was incredibly rude and questioned the severity of my problem. I then wrote a few more emails and left some more voice-mails this time including the very important words "seeking legal advice" and suddenly I was contacted by 3 different people. Everyone I spoke to was completely clueless and down-played my complaints. The sent out a manager to view my apartment and he was very combative and also down-played the issue. I asked to speak to the head of RPM and they refused to give me contact information.
It is nearly impossible to get in contact with anyone no matter what time of day you call. And if you are lucky enough to get in contact with them they don't listen to you and belittle your problem. The employees are incompetent. The managers are rude. It is hands down the most disgusting company ever.
Warning do not rent from RPM. It will be the worst 12 months of your life. -

Los Angeles, CAI truly believe that Yossi Eichenbaum chooses the worst management companies on purpose. Just when you think things could not get worse, then his family contracts out with RPM.
These have go to be the worst people on the planet. Their records are not straight, they have poor customer service, and do know rental law at all. I have to provide them city civil codes on how to properly post a 24 hour notice.
I submitted a maintenance requesr on May 2, no word yet. I was todl that they do not check their emails very often because they have so many units. I was also told that I do not live in Beverly Hills...ummm that has to do with what?
They do no read the letters you send them or the e-mails. I have had it with these people and it has only been 1 month and 16 days that they have run the complex...but they have entered my unit 5 times in that amount of time and thrown away my personal property and posted many a notice on my door.
They are simply the pits...rotton to the core. Prime examples on how not to conduct yourself. -

CAI lived in an RPM apartment for one year. Everything was fine at the apartment complex, but upon the end of the lease we were charged for repairs that were unnecessary and not part of our responsiblity.
They even charged us to repaint the entire unit, and for floor damage that existed when we moved in- and it was listed as damaged on our move-in deposit sheet!
Right before moving, they even called us claiming we hadn't paid the rent even though they managed to find the check 1 minute after calling!
Plus they never answer OR return phone calls...
Stay away!!! -

Los Angeles, CAOur hot water has been out for 48 hours. They had someone "fix it" yesterday and I've been calling the stupid telephone system all morning. My opinion of them has gone from "terrible people" to "personification of pure evil." I hope you jerks can sleep at night.

Their leasing agents are rude, condescending, and don't give a rat's ass about the well being of their customers. I've had better customer service from girl scouts selling cookies.
I'd rather swallow rusty nails than ever come within 100 yards of this terrible, bent company again. I hope Karma exists and it bites these evil people in the butt.
12/31/2010 I've only been living in an RPM property for four months, and this is hands down the worst renting experience I've ever had. We have so far had mold on our windows due to lack of sealing, had to buy a brand new fridge a month and a half after we moved in, and their phone system is impossible to navigate. When our tub flooded with sewage (giant hygiene issue) it took me an entire day to get a hold of a real human being.
